The
Beaches
The beaches at your holiday villas are breathtaking and being so
close to Africa the sea and air temperature stay warm for a longer
season.
Chia
beaches are blessed with silky white sand, huge dunes and crystalline,
turquoise-hued water reminiscent of an idyllic Caribbean beach.
The bays are bordered by majestic, age-old junipers and a few
stone traces of the Phoenician city of Bithia whose site Baia
Chia now occupies. You might catch a glimpse of dolphins and,
on the lagoon, pink flamingos. Chia is also a wonderful venue
for surfers because the winds blow just the right way. At this
lovely bay there is also the delightful restaurant, Dune di Campana
part of Chia Laguna Resort where the aromatic Mediterranean
Maquis can be enjoyed along with a cool refreshing drink and wonderful
freshly cooked food. A wonderful place to while away a hot summer
afternoon.
You
can also use the hotels private beach which has a shuttle from
the the Hotel Chia Laguna, which is free and runs every 15 minutes
(the children love it) to the Dunes restaurant next door to the
beach. You can also hire sun loungers, deck chairs, beach umbrellas,
and beach towels. There is also a beach bar.
For the more athletic there is a diving centre, windsurfing and
sailing, aquatic sports club and beach volley.
There are many quite deserted beautiful beaches,
one close by features seven reefs at a depth of 25 meters, a paradise
for scuba divers.
A
few kilometres down the road to the west are the expansive sandy
coves and aquamarine waters of Trauma. Those wishing to explore
Sardinia's numerous bays extending to the island's southernmost
point, Cap Teulada, can rent a boat here for the trip.
